Raymond Gongora

Vice Chair

Ray Gongora, a venerated figure in administration and the arts, has significantly impacted educational theatre, community arts, and philanthropy. His three-decade career boasts roles such as the Supervisor of Customer Services at the USPS, Producer/Director at Great Belize Productions, and educator at Edward P. Yorke High School. His retirement from the USPS after 33 years marks a transition to roles like Vice President of Optimist Club 501 Belize and Vice Chair of Build Belize Inc., earning accolades for his service to the Belizean and Caribbean diaspora.

In the realm of performing arts, Ray has directed, produced, and performed in numerous
productions across Belize, the Caribbean, Central America, and the USA. His artistic endeavors
continue to resonate as he settles into retirement in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Academically,
Ray’s credentials include diplomas in Theatre Arts & Drama in Education and Advanced Youth Work, complemented by a scholarship-aided Theatre Arts course at the University of Michigan.

Ray’s dedication to cultural development has been honored with prestigious awards such as the “Friend of SCA Award,” the “Leadership and Community Activist Award,” and the “Community Service Award.” His crowning achievement is the “Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE)” awarded by the Queen of England, celebrating his substantial contributions to cultural enrichment and the arts.
