Sister Cities International Initiative- City of Miramar & BACC

On Friday, March 17th, 2023, the City of Miramar, FL welcomed representatives and members of the Belizean Diaspora, in partnership with the Belizean American Chamber of Commerce (BACC), to celebrate the first initiative of the Sister Cities International program between Miramar and Belize City.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two cities was signed on September 24th, 2013, with the intention of fostering mutual understanding and collaboration in the areas of education, economics, technology, culture, tourism, and social opportunities.

The event was attended by Hon. Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Julio Sabido, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Mrs. Sandhya Murphy, Ambassador for Diaspora Relations, and Mr. Michael D. Young, BACC Executive Director.   Others in attendance included members of the newly reformed ‘Belize Association of South Florida’ (BASF), Build Belize Inc, as well as Dr. Chris Bennett, Dr. Albert Williams, and Rev. Earl Henry.

Mayor Wayne M. Messam, Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis, and Commissioner Maxwell B. Chambers of the City of Miramar presented Minister Kevin Bernard, Ambassador Sandhya Murphy, and Mr. Michael D Young with tokens of goodwill.
