On Saturday, May 6th, 2023, Washington DC was graced by a splendid cultural fiesta.  The Embassy of Belize in partnership with Passport DC participated in the “Around the World Embassy Tour”, an event that provided a platform for showcasing rich and diverse cultures. Visitors from all corners of the world, numbering over 6000, flocked to the Embassy of Belize to experience the warm hospitality, and immerse themselves in the sights, sounds and flavors of Belize.

Among the highlights of the event were Bowen and Bowen’s locally brewed Belikin Beer and their new Snackers line along with the delicious rums of Traveller’s Liquors, which delighted visitors’ palates.  Belize It Cuisine and PC Catering provided mouth-watering delicacies such as rice and beans, oxtail, “Orange Walk” tacos, and coconut tarts. These were just some of the flavors that visitors savored, giving them a taste of the authentic Belizean cuisine.

The musical talent of Garifuna drummers, Clayton Williams, Kirk Thompson, Adam Franzua, Keynen Sabal and Hansel Casimiro filled the air with infectious rhythms, inspiring visitors of all ages to sway and dance to the beat.  DJ Special further energized the crowd with lively, upbeat music and kept the excitement high by announcing raffles and giveaways.

The Belize Hotel Association and the Belize Tourist Board provided valuable information about the country, while the Ambassador of Belize to the United States of America, Lynn Young; Assistant Secretary General of the Organization of American States and former Ambassador of Belize to the United States, Nestor Mendez; and Ambassador for Diaspora Relations, Sandhya Murphy extended a warm welcome to visitors.

Thanks to the favorable weather along with the amazing team of volunteers and staff from the Embassy of Belize who worked tirelessly to organize the event, the Embassy of Belize and the Passport DC initiative enjoyed a huge success with an impressive turnout of visitors showing their support.
