Ministry of Tourism & Diaspora Relations Supports Chicago Belize Day in the Park

Monday, 7th August, 2023 – The vibrant and rich culture of Belize took center stage yesterday as Belizeans living abroad celebrated Chicago Belize Day in the Park. The event, which was held at Burnham Park in Chicago, welcomed a diverse crowd of Belizeans, residents, and tourists, whom were eager to experience the food, culture and music of Belize. Notably, the Ministry of Tourism & Diaspora Relations (MTDR) attended the event, which further enhanced the cultural exchange and promoted the Diaspora Relations Unit and Build Belize Inc.
Guest speakers at the event included H.E. Lynn Young, Ambassador of Belize to the United States of America & Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States and Mrs. Sandhya Murphy, Ambassador for Diaspora Relations. In addition, Honorary Consul Leticia Castellanos and her team from the Consulate of Belize in Chicago were in attendance.
Participants at the event took the opportunity to register with the Diaspora Relations Unit and got an opportunity to win many gift bags filled with products made in Belize. The Chicago Belize Day serves as a testament to the bond between Belizeans living abroad. The MTDR’s participation underscores the Unit’s commitment to remaining engaged with all Belizeans living abroad.
The Diaspora Relations Unit looks forward to connecting with Belizeans abroad through other initiatives such as the Chicago Belize Day.
