Amber Cabrera (Gongora) serves as Secretary of Build Belize Inc., supporting the organization’s mission to equip school kitchens across Belize. In her professional life, Amber is a Program Manager in the Economic Development Division at the City of Fort Lauderdale, where she leads business retention and expansion initiatives, place making activations, and small business programming. She joined the City in 2021 as an ICMA Local Government Management Fellow and has since held roles in the City Manager’s Office before transitioning into economic development.
Amber brings over a decade of prior experience as a Senior Case Manager in mass tort litigation, where she supervised legal teams and managed complex caseloads. She is currently pursuing her Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation.
Beyond Build Belize, Amber is deeply engaged in community leadership — serving as Area Coordinator for Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority’s Florida Area 2 and President of the LGHN Florida Chapter (Latinos in Florida Local Government). She is passionate about mentorship, community investment, and building bridges across the organizations she serves.
